The Art of Bait-&-Switch

Bait-&-switch is a sales technique where a seller baits (lures) a buyer into his store using promotions about one product, then switches the buyer to another product once they arrive. For the purpose of our discussion, we are going to switch vendors on them, not products.

Bait-&-Switch sales techniques are routinely used by new car dealerships all over the U.S.  In fact, the technique is so effective, some states have actually banned the auto sales industry from doing it. Why? Because it works.  Consumers are basically sheep. They buy things they don't need based on emotional impulse instead of reasoning and logic. They will often buy whatever you tell them too and from whom you tell them too as long as you manipulate them in a way that satisfies their emotional need to feel like it was their idea in the first place. New car dealers do it, major retailers do it and YOU can do it too!
